Pirates of Porthcawl!

There were cries of ‘shiver me timbers’ and ‘yo ho ho’ as Nursery and Reception pupils from St Clare’s School in Porthcawl took part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle today. The theme for this years Big Toddle was pirates and the St Clare’s crew participated decked in pirate garb and wielding pirate swords!

The pupils walked around the school grounds collecting treasure from staff and pupils along the way. The children were rewarded for their hard work by a magic show at the end of the Toddle.

The event recieved tremendous support from parents and friends and raised over £600 for Barnardo’s.

The Barnardos Big Toddle is a short sponsored walk and fundraising event for toddlers groups and nurseries. The money raised in Big Toddle events goes towards helping Barnardo’s projects helping disadvantaged under 5s to learn and play. These projects tackle a huge array of issues, including young carers, children with disabilities and homeless families.

St Clare’s Head Teacher, Catherine Barnard congratulated the pupils and commented “St Clare’s has supported the Barnardo’s Big Toddle for several years and we are proud to be able to make a contribution to such a worthy appeal”.
